Where they started.
LegalEdge Partners is a 120-attorney firm specializing in commercial contracts. Associates spent an average of 4 hours per contract on first-pass review: extracting key terms, flagging non-standard clauses, and summarizing risks. With hundreds of contracts flowing through each month, the firm needed to scale review capacity without proportionally scaling headcount.
How we solved it.
We obtained access to 8,000+ redacted contracts from the firm's archive, NDAs, MSAs, and commercial agreements. We worked with their ethics committee to ensure proper confidentiality and data handling.
We fine-tuned a legal-specialized model on clause extraction, classification, and risk tagging. We focused on the 15 most common contract types the firm handles.
We built a RAG layer over their playbooks and precedent library so the model could compare extracted clauses against firm standards and flag deviations.
We designed the output for attorney review: structured extractions with confidence scores, side-by-side clause comparison, and one-click export to the firm's matter management system.
We ran a 6-week pilot with 5 associates, iterating on accuracy and UX based on their feedback.
The outcome.

95% accuracy on clause extraction across the top contract types, validated against attorney-annotated test sets.
